Meet Porto

Located alongside the Douro River, Porto is one of the oldest European centres and the gateway for a journey across the natural and cultural diversity of the region. Three times winner of the Best European Destination Porto combines ancient monuments like the Catedral do Porto, Igreja de São Francisco and Torre dos Clérigos with new and modern buildings like Casa da Música and Fundação de Serralves. Portus Cale, as Porto was once known, is the city that gave Portugal its name. From its sky-high miradouros (lookouts), the city centre – classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO – makes for a perfect postcard, as well as the view from the Cableway that runs over the downtown. These pictures are of course complemented by the Douro, and a cruise up this river will allow you to see Porto in a whole new way. You'll be able to stroll through the riverside at Ribeira with a great view of Gaia and the Port Wine Cellars, the green trails of Parque da Cidade (the biggest urban park in Portugal) or the gardens of Serralves and Palácio de Cristal.

The iconic Casa da Música and Coliseu, the white and blue tile-covered S. Bento Station, the mysterious Lello Bookstore, the antique Majestic Café or even the imposing Avenida dos Aliados, are also essential stopping points for a well-rounded touristic experience of the city. The nightlife is also an option for those interested in it, with taverns, pubs, restaurants and nightclubs filling the beautiful city centre with a myriad of smells from our best traditional cuisine, offering a more inviting setting to organize casual talks and dinners between all the attendees boosting relationships all-around. In the end, one cannot help but be enchanted by Porto’s breathtaking natural beauty, the richness of its heritage and architecture, its gastronomy and excellent wine and its charming hospitable people.
